Subject: Kenwood TM-d700a
Dear Editor
If you could post this it would save a lot of trouble for us hams.
Regards Dave..VA3UL
To whom it may help
I recently purchase a Kenwood TM-D700a radio to get on the APRS
bandwagon. This duel band radio 2 meters and 70 cm with built in tnc.
is terrific and I am very pleased with its performance. My problems
began when I tried to load frequencies and operating platforms from the
computer with software provided at the Kenwood internet site. Nowhere
in the manual did it mention how this was done or what port was used on
the radio. Frustrated I called Radioworld were I made purchase and they
supplied me with what they said was the proper patch cord. In fact the
cord supplied by Radioworld was for an outboard tnc and improper. I
also made calls to Kenwood that were not returned. To make a long story
short and with the aid of my friend Tom we discovered it is programmed
through its DB9 from a computers serial port. The db9,s are wired pin
to pin, nothing fancy, Kenwood software loads fine
Best Regards.. Dave VA3ul with the aid of Tom Ve3fck
